What It Is

What Commercial Bed Bug Treatment Actually Involves

Commercial bed bug treatment is a structured eradication process combining inspection, preparation, active treatment, and verification across occupied or semi-occupied spaces. Unlike a single-family home, a commercial infestation touches adjacent units, shared walls, laundry chutes, and furniture staging areas, so the treatment footprint is almost always larger than the reported room. Protocols range from whole-room heat remediation at 120-135 degrees, to targeted conventional residual applications, to the Aprehend biopesticide barrier — each selected based on facility type, guest or tenant turnover, and how quickly the room must be returned to revenue.

ProTech approaches every commercial call as an operational problem first and a pest problem second. Before we recommend a protocol, we inspect adjacent units, interview housekeeping or maintenance staff, and map the likely spread pattern. We then propose the treatment method that minimizes room downtime and tenant disruption while still hitting eggs, nymphs, and adults. Every treatment is documented with room numbers, technician notes, and follow-up schedules so property managers have defensible records for corporate, insurance, or tenant disputes.

In Their Words
We were fighting a recurring bed bug problem across three floors and losing rooms every weekend. ProTech came in, inspected adjacent units we had not flagged, and executed a combined heat-and-chemical plan that cleared the floors in two passes. The documentation they provided went straight into our brand compliance file. We have not had a confirmed call back in eleven months.

How It Works

Our 4-step commercial process.

Structured, documented, and built around the compliance standards your facility faces.

01

On-Site Inspection

A technician inspects the reported room and every adjacent, above, and below unit using visual cues and interceptor traps to map the true footprint before recommending treatment.

02

Protocol Recommendation

Based on facility type, downtime tolerance, and spread pattern, we recommend heat, conventional residual, Aprehend biopesticide, or a combined approach with a written scope.

03

Treatment Execution

Our in-house technicians execute the treatment in unmarked vehicles with discreet uniforms, coordinating with housekeeping or maintenance so operations continue around the work.

04

Verification & Documentation

We return for scheduled follow-ups, confirm clearance with interceptors and visual inspection, and deliver a documentation packet for your corporate, insurance, or tenant files.

What's Included

Every program delivers this baseline.

Specialty services and add-ons layer on based on facility type. This is the foundation.

Adjacent-Unit Inspection

We always check the rooms beside, above, and below the report because bed bugs rarely stay isolated to one wall.

Protocol Flexibility

Heat, conventional residuals, and Aprehend biopesticide are all in our toolkit — we pick based on your downtime needs.

Unmarked Vehicles

Company trucks without pest branding so guests and tenants never see a pest control logo in your lot.

Discreet Technicians

Uniformed technicians trained to enter and exit through service routes and communicate through your staff only.

Tenant Notifications

Drafted notification language compliant with Indiana landlord-tenant guidance so you send the right message.

Interceptor Monitoring

ClimbUp-style interceptors installed under beds and furniture to confirm clearance between follow-up visits.

Heat Remediation

Portable heaters bring entire rooms to 120-135 degrees to eliminate all life stages in a single treatment day.

Documentation Packet

Room numbers, treatment methods, chemical labels, and clearance notes delivered for corporate and insurance use.

Staff Training

We train housekeeping and maintenance on early detection so the next introduction gets caught at week one.

How We Compare

ProTech vs. typical national pest control.

Most buyers hire a national chain because the brand is familiar — then deal with rotating technicians, sub-contractors, and call centers. Here's how ProTech is structurally different.

Frequently Asked

Commercial Bed Bug Treatment — common questions.

Which treatment method is best for my facility?+
It depends on how fast you need the room back and how heavy the infestation is. Heat is fastest and chemical-free but requires a full day offline. Conventional residual is cost-effective and returns the room quickly but needs two to three visits. Aprehend biopesticide lets the room stay occupied and builds a three-month barrier. We recommend a method after inspecting, and for established accounts we often combine two protocols to balance speed and long-term protection.
Do guests or tenants need to vacate during treatment?+
For heat treatment, the room must be vacated for the active heating window, usually six to eight hours. For conventional treatment, occupants leave for the application and a short reentry period, typically two to four hours. For Aprehend biopesticide, occupants do not need to leave at all beyond a brief reentry window. We build a schedule around your check-in times or tenant availability so disruption is minimized.
How many visits are typically required?+
Heat often clears an infestation in a single visit because it kills every life stage at once. Conventional treatments usually require two to three visits spaced two weeks apart to catch eggs as they hatch. Aprehend requires one application and a verification visit at ninety days. In all cases we install interceptor monitors between visits so we can confirm activity has stopped before we close the job.
Do you inspect adjacent rooms even if they were not reported?+
Yes, and this is the single most common mistake we see other providers skip. Bed bugs travel through wall voids, outlet boxes, and shared furniture deliveries, so an isolated report almost never means an isolated infestation. We inspect every adjacent unit at no additional charge as part of the initial scope. If we find activity there, we fold those rooms into the treatment plan before any spread becomes a full-floor event.
Can you keep the service discreet from guests and tenants?+
Discretion is standard on every commercial bed bug job we run. Our service vehicles are unmarked, our technicians wear plain uniforms without pest control branding, and they enter through service corridors and loading docks whenever possible. We coordinate entry times with your front desk or property manager and never discuss the purpose of the visit with anyone outside your designated point of contact.
What about the items inside the room — furniture, linens, personal belongings?+
Linens and soft goods are bagged and processed through on-site commercial laundry at high heat, which we coordinate with your housekeeping team. Hard furniture is treated in place. We rarely recommend disposing of furniture because modern treatment methods reach every hiding spot. If an item must be discarded, we wrap and label it so it cannot reintroduce bugs to another part of the building during removal.
Do you provide documentation for insurance or corporate compliance?+
Every commercial treatment closes with a documentation packet that includes the inspection findings, treatment method, chemical labels and SDS sheets where applicable, room or unit numbers treated, technician certifications, and clearance verification notes. Hotel brands, insurance carriers, assisted living regulators, and multifamily corporate offices all accept this format.
